Who We Are

Frequent Questions

Have you ever had a question and didn’t know where to find the answer? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

This section is a compilation of answers to the questions most commonly asked by our constituents. Just start by following one of the links below. If you can’t find the question you wanted to ask, don’t hesitate to contact us.

  1. The Hastings Museum Foundation engages with the public to "friendraise" and fundraise. We seek volunteers to serve on committees, our board of directors - the friendraising, and we raise money for exciting exhibits in the Museum.

  2. We’re always on the lookout for individuals like you wanting to get involved. Visit our How To Help section to find out ways to donate or volunteer.

  3. We have a responsibility to our community and our donors and work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization. Funds we receive are used to meet the operating needs of the Foundation, scholarships for children to attend Museum programs, and the capital needs of the Museum. We accept gifts with and without restrictions.

  4. Our organization takes our privacy policy seriously and takes steps to protect and ensure the safety of our supporters. We do not sell or otherwise disclose information about our volunteers or supporters outside of our immediate organization. This policy has no exceptions. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organizations, public, private or nonprofit. For more detailed information visit our Privacy Policy page.

  • I spent my first 25 years in Hastings. My brother and I used to ride our bikes to the House of Yesterday. We would hide our bikes in the large bushes in the front of the Museum. We always enjoyed the exhibits. I remember these visits fondly and will continue to support the museum in the future. - William "Bill" H., Grosse Pointe, MI.

  • The mix of local, state and natural history throughout the museum is awesome. The planetarium is pretty cool and if the kids get bored, take them to the nature nook! They'll love it, mine do! - Dennis Schneider
